How to remove yourself from BeenVerified

• What it is: People-search site.

• What it asks for: a confirmation link sent to your email, the web address of your listing.

First, check whether you're listed

Search your name on BeenVerified with each city you've lived in, and look for your age and relatives to be sure it's you. The free planner opens that search with your name already filled in, for every name and place you give it.

Send the removal request

1. Open the BeenVerified opt-out page and search your name and state
2. Pick your record from the results and choose to opt it out
3. Enter an email address and click the confirmation link sent to it
4. Repeat for each brand you appear on because each brand has its own form

After you send it

Keep the confirmation email, and search again in a week or two to make sure the listing is gone. People-search sites often add people back months later from new records, so look again every few months. The planner reminds you when, and keeps a dated record of each step.
