How to remove yourself from FamilyTreeNow
- What it is: People-search site.
- Time: about 6 minutes.
- What it asks for: a captcha, a confirmation link sent to your email, the web address of your listing.
First, check whether you're listed
Search your name on FamilyTreeNow with each city you've lived in, and look for your age and relatives to be sure it's you. The free planner opens that search with your name already filled in, for every name and place you give it.
Send the removal request
- Open the opt-out page, enter your email and pass the captcha
- Search your name, state and birth year then open your listing details
- Click the red Opt Out This Record button
- Click the confirmation link they email you
- Repeat for every duplicate listing of you

After you send it
Keep the confirmation email, and search again in a week or two to make sure the listing is gone. People-search sites often add people back months later from new records, so look again every few months. The planner reminds you when, and keeps a dated record of each step.
Your details stay with you
The planner runs in your browser. What you type is saved on your device only, and nothing in the planner sends it anywhere, including to us. You send every request yourself.
